The head of TIM Brasil, Luca Luciani, is being investigated by the Italian authorities for aggravated fraud, obstructing regulators and making false statements, according to a report in the Financial Times.
The investigation is reportedly being carried out by the Milan Prosecutor’s Office as part of a wider probe into false SIM cards.
The news comes as TI prepares to unveil a set of managerial changes. These reportedly included Luciani being nominated by TI’s largest shareholder – Telco S.p.A – to become TI’s head of operations for Latin America.
The holding company Telco S.p.A, which holds a 22.4% stake in TI, is owned by Telefonica, Mediobanca, Intesa Sanpaolo, Assicurazioni Generali S.p.A.
