The Brazilian subsidiary of Telecom Italia, TIM Brasil, has reportedly described the upcoming 4G auction in the country as a premature initiative and suggested it could harm competition.
RCR Wireless reported that TIM Brasil had said that, while it is not against the deployment of 4G in Brazil, it is premature because 3G services have not reached their full maturity yet.
The 4G auction is reportedly set to take place in June.
Telecom Italia holds a 100% stake in TIM Brasil, which in turn holds a 67% stake in TIM Participacoes.
TIM Participacoes controls the mobile operator TIM Celular.
