Three bidders have qualified to participate in Slovenia’s upcoming 4G spectrum auction, meaning one of the nation’s mobile network operators will miss out.
The Agency for Communication Networks and Services (AKOS) announced after opening bids to participate that three met the requirements of the tender process, without naming the successful applicants.
All four of Slovenia’s mobile network operators – Telekom Slovenije’s Mobitel, Telekom Austria’s Si.mobil, Tusmobil and Gratel’s T-2 – had been expected to bid for frequencies in the 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1,800 MHz, 2,100 MHz and 2,600 MHz bands.
AKOS said the auction will start in the first half of April.
The regulator published the draft conditions for the tender last September and officially launched the process in January. Licences will be technology neutral and last for 15 years.
