Three candidates have shown interest in the 4,000 towers put up for sale by Indonesian mobile operator Indosat, Bloomberg reports quoting three people with knowledge of the matter.
PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure, PT Solusi Tunas Pratama and PT Sarana Menara Nusantara are reportedly looking at the towers, which could be worth US$500m.
Indosat may select a preferred bidder in two weeks’ time, the report added.
Earlier this year, Telecom Finance reported that the transaction could be the first part of a broader process to sell 14,000 towers for about US$1.4bn. In November 2010, Indosat director, Fadzri Sentosa said the company was evaluating options for the towers.
Last year, Sentosa also said that Cit was advising on the tower sale process.
Indosat is controlled by Qatari incumbent QTel.
The parties did not reply to request for comments before press time.
