Threadneedle Asset Management has acquired a 5.182% stake in Telecom Italia (BIT:TIT)’s recently-listed tower spinoff Inwit (BIT:INW), according to a market filing.
The stake was acquired on 22 June, Inwit’s first day of trading.
The fund also holds a 5.040% stake in Mediaset-controlled towerco EI Towers, which earlier this year tried to acquire a 66.67% stake in state-owned rival Rai Way for €1.2bn (US$1.4bn).
EI Towers itself has expressed an interest in Inwit in recent times. Last month, TI CEO Marco Patuano did not dismiss a potential deal with Rai Way or Abertis’ tower unit Cellnex Telecom, which debuted on the Madrid stock exchange in May.
