He succeeds Michael Birck, Tellabs’ co-founder and chairman, who retired at the end of the vendor’s recent AGM.
Tobkin has served as a director since 2010. He was previously global telecom/technology practice leader at management consultancy Bain & Company from 1992 to 2009. Prior to that he founded VC fund Sierra Ventures and was a partner and consultant with McKinsey.
