South Africa’s Telkom does not plan to sell its loss-making Nigerian subsidiary Multi-Links despite investor interest, a spokesperson said.
Telkom chairman Jeff Molobela was quoted saying in Reuters that a GSM operator and an infrastructure fund had offered to enter negotiations over Multi-Links.
“Telkom is not pursuing that interest as the company sees potential in the Nigerian market,” spokesperson Pynee Chetty said.
Telkom wrote down the value of its unit by R5.2bn in the financial year ending in March.
