Indonesian telecom operator Telkom (IDX:TLKM) has floated a tender to build a US$200m satellite for a launch in 2018, according to a local report citing director Abdus Somad Arief.
The group declined to comment.
Its previous satellite was ordered last year from Thales Alenia Space, which is building Telkom-3S for a launch towards the end of 2016 to 118E.
The last spacecraft Telkom sent to that orbital slot failed to reach the position on a Proton rocket three years ago.
Last month, Telkom agreed to buy TeleGuam Holdings, the parent company of Guam telecom incumbent GTA.
