Indonesia’s incumbent operator Telkom is searching for a new CEO after Arief Yahya was appointed as the country’s minister of tourism.
He is due to hold a post in Indonesia’s cabinet under a five-year term.
A Telkom spokesman said his successor will be chosen by the Indonesian government.
He added that President Joko Widodo’s decision to appoint Yahya underlined the government’s trust in the company and its HR system.
Telkom has recently been cited in local media as looking to expand into four Asia-Pacific countries including New Zealand and Australia, as well as in Saudi Arabia and other Middle Eastern markets.
It also recently agreed to sell a 49% stake in its tower arm Mitratel to Tower Bersama in a share-swap deal.
