Stockholm-headquartered telco TeliaSonera has promoted Valdur Laid, head of its fixed-line business in Finland, to CEO of its entire Finnish operations.
Laid is replacing Robert Andersson, who the company appointed as president of Europe late last year as it reorganises operations along geographic, rather than business, lines.
Before being appointed to his fixed-line role at Sonera in 2012, Laid spent eight years as CEO of TeliaSonera’s Estonian subsidiary. He came from the financial sector, where he was member of the board of the Bank of Estonia in 1997-2000.
“Sonera has started a big change to become even more customer focused and efficient,” he said.
“There is a big shift in the telecommunications industry at the moment towards data based services. It is going to be an interesting challenge for me to guide Sonera through this change.”
