Norwegian mobile operator Telenor is reportedly talking to Austrian investor Ronnie Pecik about acquiring his stake of just over 15% in incumbent Telekom Austria.
Pecik, who in late November raised his indirect stake in Telekom Austria to 15.018%, with options to acquire a further 0.79%, has entered into a preliminary agreement with Telenor, reported Austrian magazine Format citing sources.
However, Telenor is reportedly looking for opportunities to gain a larger stake.
A spokesman for the Oslo-based firm declined to comment on the speculation.
Format also reported that mobile operator Vimpelcom and tech firm Sistema, both of Russia, have already rejected similar approaches from Pecik.
