Norwegian incumbent telco Telenor is shaking up its organisational structure to further align its strategy with digital services and bolster corporate affairs activities.
The changes will see the group merge its strategy and digital units into one division, and combine corporate communications, sustainability and government relations operations into an enlarged corporate affairs unit.
“It will provide us with the flexibility and strength needed to take a leading role in the digital future,” said Telenor CEO Jon Fredrik Baksaas.
The combined digital and strategy units will be headed by Henrik Clausen, CEO of Malaysian mobile operator DiGi, who will take up the role on 15 June.
Katja Christina Nordgaard, Norway’s ambassador to Thailand and Cambodia, will head the beefed-up corporate affairs division from 4 August.
In addition, Telenor has immediately promoted Pal Wien Espen, general counsel and head of group legal, to executive vice president in a move it says emphasises the importance of its legal affairs department.
