Telekom Slovenije is planning to acquire the 16.62% it does not already own in Macedonian ISP On.net from local businessman Predrag Cemerkic.
A spokesperson for the Slovenian incumbent did not reveal how much the transaction would be worth, but said a deal should happen very soon because no more approvals are needed.
The move comes as Telekom Slovenije seeks to consolidate the subsidiaries of its Macedonia-based mobile operator One to help turn around the business.
For the first six months of the year, Telekom Slovenije posted an EBITDA of E132.2m, which is a 5% decline compared with the corresponding period for 2009. First half 2010 net sales revenues stood at E412.8m, representing a 2% rise on the same period last year.
Announcing the results on August 28, chairman Tomaz Berginc explained the company’s aim for “the reorganization and consolidations of companies in Slovenia with the goal of further increasing the optimization of business operations.”
Berginc continued: “We have to take into consideration the fact that ensuring sustainable success is a process, which demands full team engagement and mostly the time.”
