Telekom Austria (TA) has decided not to join peers in appealing against the results of Austria’s recent €2bn (US$2.7bn) LTE spectrum auction.
A spokesperson for the incumbent, which bid €1.03bn (US$1.4bn) for half of the available frequencies, confirmed it will not file an appeal so as not to jeopardise the development of its LTE network.
T-Mobile Austria and Hutchison Whampoa’s H3G have both indicated intentions to appeal to the administrative and constitutional courts and called for a new auction, citing flaws in the original procedure.
T-Mobile bid €654m (US$883.7m) for spectrum in the October auction, while H3G bid €330m (US$445.9m).
In November, TA launched a €750m (US$1.02bn) eurobond to help finance its newly-acquired spectrum.
