Telekom Austria (TA) has promoted Dieter Trimmel to the position of director of group strategy.
Trimmel will have a dual role at the telco, continuing in his current position as director of market development at Austrian mobile unit A1 as well as taking on responsibility for group strategy.
Reporting directly to the group CEO, he will be responsible for overall strategy development and yearly strategy checks.
Trimmel replaces Georg Donaubauer, who is leaving of his own accord after 15 years with the company in various roles.
Before joining A1 a year ago, Trimmel spent five years at Booz & Company, where he was also an executive board member. Previously, he worked for Mondi and AT Kearney.
TA group CEO Hannes Ametsreiter described Trimmel as “an excellent manager with extensive international experience in the telecommunications business and in-depth strategic expertise with international corporations”.
This marks TA’s second key executive appointment this month. Last week, Siegfried Mayrhofer was named as the new group CFO. Currently head of finance at A1, he starts his new role at the start of June, replacing Hans Tschuden.
Carlos Slim’s America Movil (AMX) is expected to launch its mandatory takeover offer for TA shortly, following the companies’ signing of a shareholder pact in April.
