Telekom Austria has moved to bolster its operations in southeastern Europe by acquiring Amisco, a holding company which owns Amis Slovenia and Amis Croatia.
The Austrian incumbent bought the assets from Iris Capital, Kebek Private Equity and Amis’ management for an undisclosed price, reported to be €30m (US$33m).
Amis is a fixed-line reseller in Slovenia and owns a fibre network in Croatia. Telekom Austria described the acquisition as “a further step” in its convergence strategy.
“It allows Telekom Austria Group to develop its Slovenian operations from a mobile-only player into a fully converged operator,” the company said.
“In addition, it strengthens the Group’s Croatian business, where it has been offering convergent services since 2011.”
Amisco generated €41m in revenues last year, 80% of which came from the Slovenian business.
Telekom Austria will use existing cashflow to finance the deal and expects to close the transaction in Q3, subject to merger control clearance.
