The direct and indirect acquisition of a stake of up to 25.9% in Telekom Austria by America Movil is subject to clearance by the Austrian antitrust regulator, BWB.
The BWB said on Monday that is was notified of the proposed transaction on Friday last week.
The regulator will have to decide by 27 August if it wants to open a formal in-depth investigation. Otherwise the transaction will be allowed to go ahead.
In mid June, Carlos Slim’s AMX had agreed to acquire Austrian investor Ronny Pecik’s approximate 21% stake in Telekom Austria as part of its expansion plans into Europe.
