Spain’s Telefonica will work with nine banks on its €3bn (US$3.2bn) rights issue that will back its acquisition of Brazilian fixed-line telco GVT, reported Reuters.
A spokesperson for Telefonica was not immediately available for comment.
Leading on the transaction are UBS, Morgan Stanley and JP Morgan, with large roles also played by BofA Merrill Lynch, Barclays, HSBC, CaixaBank and Santander. Telefonica announced its plans for a rights issue at the end of February, as part of its US$9.3bn cash-and-stock purchase.
Earlier this week, Brazilian telecoms regulator Anatel approved the transfer of Telefonica’s 8.3% of voting shares in Telecom Italia to Vivendi.
Vivendi will also receive a 7.4% stake in Telefonica’s Brazilian mobile player Vivo.
