Spanish incumbent Telefonica invested E2bn in Spain in 2010, compared with E1.863bn the previous year, chairman Cesar Alierta told local reporters yesterday.
Addressing Spain’s Information Society, Alierta is cited insisting his company plans to remain a committed investor in the country, having increased its commitments in recent years.
However, clearer regulatory frameworks are essential for encouraging continued investment in telecoms infrastructure, he reportedly added.
The reports also cite Alierta championing the ICT sector for remaining a source of innovation throughout 2010, despite a difficult economic climate.
