Following recent approval by the antitrust regulator, the local telecoms authority, the RTR, has now also cleared the shareholder agreement between Telekom Austria investors America Movil and OeIAG.
The regulator concluded that the pact, which will give America Movil control over TA, will have no considerable effect on competition in the market. The frequency licences also remained unaffected by the ownership change, RTR noted.
Austria’s competition authority approved the pact earlier this month.
The two key shareholders had agreed to pool their shares in late April, which triggered a subsequent mandatory offer by America Movil for all outstanding shares. The tender period for the €7.15 per share offer ends on 10 July.
