Incumbent Telecom Namibia is looking to acquire local mobile operator Powercom, which operates under the Leo brand, TelecomFinance has confirmed.
A spokesman said that financial advisers had yet to be hired but added that details about the transaction would be released very soon.
In July, Telecel Globe, a subsidiary of Orascom Telecom Holding, sold Powercom to Investec and Nedbank. The transaction had a value of US$60m, representing Powercom’s liabilities.
TelecomFinance reported last year that Citigroup and Standard Bank were advising on the sell side.
