Telecom Egypt’s CFO has resigned today, with a replacement to be announced in due course.
Hassan Helmy, senior VP, financial and administrative affairs and CFO, has decided to step down as of 9 February 2013 “for personal reasons” according to a statement from the Egyptian incumbent.
“Helmy has made an invaluable contribution to the success of Telecom Egypt since he joined in 2009,” said Mohamed Amin Elnawawy, MD and CEO of Telecom Egypt, in the statement. “During his time as CFO, Helmy has ensured that Telecom Egypt has had a strong financial platform from which to grow and which positions us well for the next stage of the company’s future. On behalf of the team here at Telecom Egypt I would like to thank him for his hard work and dedication and we wish him the best for his future endeavours.”
The telco has seen a spate of management changes in the past year. As TelecomFinance previously reported, CEO Tarek Aboualam was appointed in January 2012 and resigned in July, followed by longstanding chairman Akil Beshir’s departure in October.
