Fixed-line incumbent Telecom Egypt has appointed Osama Yasin and Mohamed Salem as its new CEO and chairman respectively.
The government, which owns 80% of the telco, has also appointed new representatives to the board, according to state news agency MENA. Salem is a former telecoms minister.
Yasin replaces Mohamed Elnawawy, who had been in the post since 2012.
Telecom Egypt agreed last year to buy a unified telecoms licence for E$2.5bn (US$327.65m), but this has yet to be activated.
Shortly after the agreement, the government ruled that Telecom Egypt would have to sell its 45% stake in Vodafone Egypt. The company was reported in November to be seeking advisers for a sale.
The country’s existing mobile operators are Vodafone Egypt, Etisalat and Mobinil.
