Luxembourg mobile video operator Tango has announced it has raised US$40m in a funding round that included new US-based investors Qualcomm and Access Industries, bringing its total funding to nearly US$100m.
Tango said in a statement today it will use the proceeds of the ‘Series C’ financing, which also included additional investments from co-founder Eric Chairman’s family, to deliver new products and services.
Commenting on the financing, Qualcomm Ventures vice president Nagraj Kashyap said the company “recognises the importance of video on mobile devices and has been working closely with Tango’s team to help enhance video quality and performance.”
“Tango is a clear leader in this space and we are proud to play a role in helping boost the company’s growth,” he said.
Launched in 2010, Tango says it now services more than 45 million people in 210 countries.
