Taiwan’s largest telecommunications company and ISP, Chunghwa Telecom, has announced that it plans to invest US$6m to establish a wholly-owned subsidiary in the Chinese mainland.
The new subsidiary is expected to start operating in 2011 and focus on ICT services such as energy conservation and intelligent transportation systems, as well as 3G value added services.
Chunghwa Telecom currently has two representative offices in Beijing and Shanghai, and has a joint venture, Sertec, with the Xiamen municipal government through its investment arm, the Chunghwa Investment Company.
