Incumbent Telekom Austria could issue a hybrid bond of up to €800m, Rudolf Kemler, head of Austrian state holding OeIAG and chairman of Telekom Austria, said in an interview.
Speaking to local publication News, Kemler confirmed that the supervisory board has given the green light for a hybrid which could be used to acquire new frequencies and extend the life of frequency licences it currently holds.
A frequency auction is expected to take place in H2/2013.
Telekom Austria was currently lacking liquidity to finance those investments, he said.
With reference to the performance of TA and its shares on the stock exchange, Kemler described the situation as difficult, although adding that the industry as a whole was suffering.
A spokesperson for Telekom Austria did not wish to elaborate on the interview.
Today, Telekom Austria also closed the takeover of no frills brand Yesss! from Orange.
