T-Mobile US has promoted its chief marketing officer Mike Sievert to the role of chief operating officer.
Sievert started his new role on 13 February, the Deutsche Telekom-owned operator revealed in a SEC filing late yesterday. He has served as executive vice president and CMO since November 2012.
According to one report citing an internal T-Mobile memo, CEO John Legere said he created the COO position specifically for Sievert, who will be responsible for all customer-facing operations across the business.
The company, the US’s fourth-largest mobile carrier, also disclosed that the COO of T-Mobile Business, Jim Alling, has resigned and will leave the company on 13 March. No replacement was named.
In addition, Tom Keys, previously COO of T-Mobile-owned MetroPCS, has become president of indirect channels with responsibility for resellers of both T-Mobile and MetroPCS services.
