The trials are aimed towards incorporating speeds of up to 100 Mbps into Swisscom’s network from 2011 at the earliest.
In a statement, Swisscom said its EDGE technology currently covers the whole of Switzerland, and its HSPA network reaches around 92% of the country’s population. By the end of 2010, Swisscom expects its entire HSPA network to be able to support speeds of 7.2 Mbps, representing a significant increase to current speeds of 3.6 Mbps.
