The government of Swaziland is examining four applications from international operators interested in entering the country’s mobile market, Telegeography reports quoting local media.
The director of the Swaziland Investment Promotions Authority (SIPA), Phiwayinkhosi Ginindza, was quoted saying that a second mobile operator could be launched before the end of the year.
The four telecoms operators reportedly come from Israel, Kenya and South Africa.
MTN Swaziland is currently the only mobile operator in the Southern African country.
The authorities were not immediately available for comments.
