Brian Stengel has left Waller Capital Partners to join the TMT advisory team at Perella Weinberg Partners.
Stengel was managing director and group head of the digital media group at Waller Capital. At Perella Weinberg, he will remain focused on digital media and internet, and also provide strategic and financial advice across the TMT sector.
Before Waller Capital, Stengel was executive director in the financial sponsors group at Morgan Stanley. He has worked in investment banking for 20 years.
Peter Weinberg, a partner and head of advisory at Perella Weinberg, said, “Brian’s extensive experience and strong client relationships with digital media companies complement our team as we continue to augment our capabilities in this area.”
The boutique has become increasingly active in TMT transactions, hiring prominent names in the space. Recent partner recruits include US telecoms banker Woody Young from Lazard and Stefan Green from Goldman Sachs, while former Nokia chairman and CEO Jorma Ollila and former Verizon CEO Ivan Seidenberg have joined as advisory partners.
This year, Perella Weinberg was an adviser to BT on its US$19bn acquisition of mobile operator EE. It also advised Dutch data centre group Interxion on its attempted sale to Telecity.
