PT Axis Telekom Indonesia, a towerco subsidiary of Saudi Telecom Company (STC), is looking to sell 1600 towers for US$300m.
PT Tower Bersama Infrastructure and PT Sarana Menara Nusantara are bidding for the assets, according to sources cited by Reuters.
A deal would make either bidder Indonesia’s biggest independent tower operator.
The transaction is expected to be completed by H1/2013 and proceeds from the sale will be used for debt refinancing and investment, said the sources.
Axis Telekom is not the only Indonesian towerco selling its assets in recent times. As TelecomFinance reported back in August, Indonesian telecoms services provider Indosat sold and leased back 2500 towers to local towerco Tower Bersama for US$406m.
