Other current roles include heading up the advisory board at the Capital Markets Authority and sitting on the quality assurance committee at the Certified Public Accounts Association.
Previously, he has been a professor at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and a member of the first council administration at STC.
He holds a BA and MBA from King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals, and a PhD from the University of Colorado.
The company’s new CEO, Khaled Biyari, started his role on 27 April. He took over from Abdulaziz Alsugair, who became acting CEO following the departure of Khaled al-Ghoneim, who left after less than a year citing “special circumstances”.
In mobile, partly state-owned STC competes with Etisalat’s Mobily, Zain and MVNO Virgin Mobile Middle East and Africa.
