Italian state-backed financial organisation Cassa Depositi e Prestiti (CDP) is not in talks about acquiring a stake in Telecom Italia, Prime Minister Enrico Letta told reporters.
Speaking at a press conference on CDP’s business plan for 2013-2015, Letta said: “At the moment, there are no discussions about the hypothesis of this kind”. He declined to comment further on the topic.
Telecom Italia and CDP have held talks for months about the latter taking a stake in the telco’s fixed-line assets, which it plans to spin off into a private company. However, no deal has eventuated.
