Singapore’s second-largest mobile operator, StarHub, has appointed Nicholas Tan as its new CFO, effective as of July 2013. He replaces Kwek Buck Chye, who will retire at the end of September.
Buck Chye has served in his position since 2002. In 2004, the company was listed on the local stock exchange. Last year, Buck Chye also helped StarHub put in place a S$200m (US$161.6m) medium term note.
Tan will join StarHub from parent company Singapore Technologies Telemedia (ST Telemedia), where he currently works as senior vice president of corporate planning. He also previously served as CFO of Indonesian telco Indosat and vice president of finance at StarHub.
The company posted operating revenues of $580m (US$468.6m) in Q1, a 2% drop compared with the same quarter last year. However profits before tax increased 3% to S$110m (US$88.8m).
