Singaporean telco StarHub’s CEO Neil Montefiore will retire at the end of the month, to be replaced by the current COO Tan Tong Hai.
Montefiore has been CEO since January 2010 and also serves as a director on StarHub’s board. Tong Hai, who presently oversees the day-to-day operations of the company, will become executive director of StarHub.
“It has been a privilege to lead the StarHub Group for the past three years,” said Montefiore in a company statement. “I just turned 60 recently and I think it is the right time for me to retire from a full-time executive role.”
On the new CEO appointment, he added: “Tong Hai and I have worked together for many years and I am confident that I will be turning the helm of StarHub over to yet another seasoned industry executive who can continue steering the group successfully.”
StarHub chairman, Tan Guong Ching, said: “Our industry is going through a challenging yet exciting time. I am confident that, together with the StarHub team, Tong Hai will further augment StarHub’s position as a leading infocommunications and entertainment company in Singapore.”
StarHub also announced its full-year results today, posting EBITDA of S$719.8m (US$581m) in 2012, up from S$676m (US$546m) in 2011.
