Germany is set to auction off mobile spectrum on April 12, according to local press reports.
The Die Welt newspaper claims that T-Mobile, Vodafone, O2, E-Plus and WiMAX operator Airdata will be among the six bidders competing in the auction, which is being managed by the federal network agency.
Frequencies in the 800MHz, 1.8GHz, 2GHz and 2.6GHz ranges will be auctioned and the successful operators will then be tasked with offering fast broadband coverage as Germany looks to expand its national service.
