UK mobile operator JV Everything Everywhere (EE) is threatening the UK government with legal action, following changes to plans for next year’s digital dividend auction. The threat, voiced in a letter from EE head Tom Alexander to UK communications minister Ed Vaizey, stems from fears that the new rules will benefit rivals O2 and Vodafone, removing conditions that they give up some of their spectrum.
A person close to EE told TelecomFinance that the letter was sent to ensure the possibility of legal action remains open for a later date.
Everything Everywhere JV owners Orange and T-Mobile were unable to elaborate further on the letter’s contents.
