Spain’s markets and competition regulator plans to cut fees for indirect access to Telefonica’s wholesale fixed-line network by 45%, it said in a statement.
The decision follows a public consultation launched on 30 March aimed at reviewing fixed-line access and call origination policies.
The proposal gives Telefonica’s competitors access to the incumbent’s copper network for Internet broadband use of up to 30MB for a maximum monthly fee of €10.57/Mbps against the previous €19.07/Mbps tariff.
The European Commission has one month to file comments on the proposal before the final prices are approved.
