Spacecom rents AsiaSat 8 to partially fill Amos-6 void after settling on new sale price with Xinwei

Spacecom has agreed a transponder deal with AsiaSat that will see AsiaSat-8 moved to the Israeli operator’s 4W orbital slot which the ill-fated Amos-6 was set to fill. The agreement paves the way for Spacecom to finalise the renegotiation of its original sale arrangement with Beijing Xinwei Technology, following the loss of Amos-6 during a SpaceX launchpad explosion on 1 September.
