US fibre optic infrastructure firm Integra has hired telecoms veteran Marc Willency as its new CEO.
Willency will join Integra on 8 September from Level 3 Communications, where he served as group vice president for customer solutions and enablement, overseeing sales, operations and customer experience management functions in North America.
At Integra, Willency will be responsible for growing its two business units, Integra Business and Electric Lightwave, in line with its strategy of building on its network assets to improve services for business and wholesale customers.
He succeeds Robert Guth, who has served as interim president and CEO since Kevin O’Hara’s departure in September last year. Guth will remain on the board of directors as vice chairman.
In his more than 17 years in telecoms, Willency has also worked for TW Telecom, which was acquired by Level 3 last year. He held senior roles in operations, sales and customer experience before being promoted to senior vice president of customer operations.
Willency said he is looking forward to helping “cement [Integra’s] position as a leading network services provider in the western US”.
“With solid financial standing, a strong focus on customer experience, expansive network infrastructure and a broad portfolio of networking, cloud and security services, I am joining Integra at an exciting time in the company’s growth …”
Based in Vancouver, Washington, private equity-owned Integra provides networking, communications and technology services in the western states. More specifically, its two business units provide data networking, unified communications, cloud and security services to domestic and international customers, including corporates, government agencies and wholesalers. Its fibre network connects customers in 35 cities across 11 states.
Last month, Integra added 3,500 route miles to its West Coast network after acquiring OpticAccess for an undisclosed sum.
