US telco Frontier Communications (NASDAQ:FTR) has announced Pamela Reeve as the successor to company veteran Maggie Wilderotter, who will step down as chair on 1 April.
Last March, Wilderotter stepped down as CEO after ten years, becoming executive chairman on 1 April 2015.
Reeve, for her part, joined the board in 2010 and currently serves as lead director. During her 15 years at mobile business software provider Lightbridge, Reeve held positions including president and CEO. She also sits on the boards of Sonus Networks and American Tower Corporation, where she is also lead director.
Wilderotter said: “Pam’s strong leadership skills, extensive background in telecommunications and technology, as well as her tenure on Frontier’s board, make her the right choice to serve as Frontier’s new chairman.
“With our transformative [US$10.45bn] Verizon acquisition solidly on track, the board is comfortable moving forward as planned with an independent chairman of the board in 2016.”
CEO Dan McCarthy said: “I wish to thank Maggie for her extraordinary contributions to our company. The Frontier Communications of today bears little resemblance to the regional telephone company that Maggie joined to lead in 2004.”
“We are on the cusp of doubling in size and further transforming the company when we close and integrate high-quality Verizon assets in California, Texas and Florida in 2016. Maggie has provided outstanding leadership and we wish her and her family all the best.”
Frontier provides broadband, voice, video and wireless internet to residential and business customers, primarily in rural areas and smaller cities with operations in 28 states and nearly 8.5 million addressable households.
