BTL and Huawei partner up for Belize undersea cable system

Incumbent Belize Telemedia (BTL) has teamed up with Huawei Technologies USA and Huawei Marine Networks, subsidiaries of Chinese vendor Huawei, to build an undersea cable system that will connect Belize mainland to San Pedro Island. The project, the cost of which has not been disclosed, is scheduled to start this summer and is expected to complete in Q2 2017.
