Slovakia’s telecoms regulator TUSR has extended the GSM licences of T-Mobile Slovakia and Orange Slovakia to 2021.
The licence fee for 1 MHz has been set at €800,921 (US$1,145,000). Since Slovak Telekom’s T-mobile holds 59.64 MHz it will pay €47.8m(US$68.3m), while Orange will pay E40.7m (US$58.2m) for its 50.8 MHz bandwidth.
The fee, which can be appealed, was calculated on anticipated average revenue per user (ARPU) and customer base.
Slovak Telekom’s spokesperson Andrej Gargulak said that the large fee being asked for was not expected. ”The bodies of the company will decide on any further steps,” he said, but declined to elaborate any further.
