South Korean mobile operator SK Telecom has appointed the COO of its online and mobile services platform unit, Jang Dong-huan, as its new CEO.
Since joining the Korean telco in 2000, Jang has held management positions including head of strategic planning and head of marketing. He took on the COO role at SK Planet in January this year.
In a statement, SK Telecom, a subsidiary of the SK Group conglomerate, said Jang “is expected to steer the company to sustained growth amidst rapidly changing market conditions by focussing on its core strength as a network operator”.
He replaces Ha Sung-min who became CEO in 2011.
SK Telecom is the country’s largest mobile operator followed by KT and LG Uplus.
