Cellco SK Telecom is looking to invest about W2tr (US$1.8bn) for the construction of LTE networks in the country, Kwon Hyok-sang, head of its network division, reportedly told Reuters.
The nationwide rollout is scheduled for 2013 but services could start earlier if the demand in data continues growing very rapidly, explained Reuters.
Kwon was also quoted saying that SK Telecom would commercially launch LTE services in Seoul in July and expects to have more than 200,000 LTE subscribers by the end of 2011.
