SK Telecom, South Korea’s largest mobile operator, has sealed a W2.5trn (US$2.17bn) two-tranche loan, according to IFR.
The facility is split between a W500bn (US$434m) one-year tranche A and a W2trn (US$1.74bn) two-year tranche B. It is aimed at financing its purchase of a 21.05% stake in Hynix Semiconductor for W3.4 trillion (US$3bn) at the end of last year.
Woori Bank and Kookmin Bank reportedly acted as mandated lead arrangers and bookrunners, while Hana Bank, Industrial Bank of Korea, Korean Development Bank and Nonghyup Bank were arrangers.
Ahn Seung-Yun, the CFO of SK Telecom, was recently quoted saying that the company has no intention to further raise its stake in Hynix after a minority shareholder said it would divest its stake in the chip maker.
SK Telecom was not immediately available for comment before the press deadline.
