Poland’s Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) has received bids from six companies for its auction of six 1800Mz frequency bands suitable for 4G LTE services.
Polkomtel, PTK Centertel (Orange Poland), Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (which operates under the Deutsche Telekom-owned T-Mobile brand), P4, Sferia and EmiTel all submitted bids by the 22 October deadline, UKE announced.
Orange Poland, T-Mobile, P4 and EmiTel have submitted the maximum three offers for the frequencies, to be used to provide mobile data or high-speed internet services. Polkomtel and Sferia submitted two each.
Bids will be considered independently and the auction is expected to be completed by the end of the year. Operators’ finances and competitive behaviour will also be taken into account.
Licences for all five bands will run until 31 December 2027. Licensees are required to launch their networks commercially within a year of receiving their licences and have 1,800 base stations within two years. They must also pay the state a one-off reservation fee.
