SingTel is considering offloading 25% of its Australian unit Optus via a US$3.7bn IPO, according to reports.
The IPO cold be launched in H12010 and the rationale behind the listing is to glean funds for an acquisition spree.
Optus garnered a net profit of A$583m (US$542m) for the year ended March 31 2009.
Optus has an approximate 30% share of Australia’s mobile market, with 8.2 million mobile subscribers.
SingTel may have a number of targets I its sights, including MobiFone in Vietnam.
