Egypt’s Orascom Telecom Holding, a subsidiary of Russian mobile giant Vimpelcom, has announced plans to promote Ziad Shatara to CEO of its Bangladesh operations.
Shatara, previously CTO of Vimpelcom’s Italian unit Wind Telecommunications, will join Bangalink in his new role on 1 January. He will assume the responsibilities of Mohamed Osman, who has been Bangalink’s acting CEO in addition to its CFO, and will report to Orascom head Ahmed Abou Doma.
Doma said: “The accumulated experience that Shatara brings from a diverse range of markets will prove to be of great added value to Banglalink and to the Bangladeshi market in general.”
