Serbia has raised €21m (US$23.8m) from its 4G spectrum auction with all three of the country’s mobile network operators securing airwaves.
Incumbent Telekom Srbija, Telekom Austria’s Vip Mobile, and the local unit of Norway’s Telenor will each pay €7m for two 5 MHz spectrum blocks in the 1710-1758 MHz and 1805-1880 MHz bands, telecoms regulator Ratel announced.
Operators must pay their fees within 10 days. The regulator said the operators will then begin using their newly-acquired spectrum 60 days after the licences are issued to provide services on a technology-neutral basis.
Ratel director Milan Jankovic noted that 4G services can therefore be expected in Serbia from mid-May.
